Closed (sort of)
TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.
There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.
Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)

Pasting layers between documents

If you want to copy objects from one document into another while keeping the same layer distribution (the default setting pastes objects into one single layer), here are the steps you should take:
First of all, make sure that everything you want to copy is unlocked and that everything you don’t want to copy is locked.
Hit Ctrl + A in order to select all objects and Ctrl + C to copy them.
Open/create the document where you want to paste them and, before pasting, open the Layers palette, click on the palette menu (the little black arrow on the top right corner) and select Paste Remembers Layers.

Now hit Ctrl + F in order to keep the objects in the same position as they were in other document.
Turn off Paste Remembers Layers when finished.
