Closed (sort of)
TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.
There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.
Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)
Illustrator CS2
Shadowed Text

Open a new document and insert your text.
With your text selected, hit Ctrl + C then Ctrl + F to copy and paste the text in the same place.
Go to Effect » Warp » Shell Lower.
» Settings: horizontal = checked, blend = 0, horizontal distortion = 0, vertical distortion = -25.
Go to Object » Expand Appearance.
Right-click over the distorted text and select Transform » Reflect.
» Settings: horizontal = checked.
Move the distorted text down and position it right under the original text.
Note: hold the Shift key when moving down in order to follow a straight line.
With the Selection Tool, click on the bottom middle point of the distorted text, hold the Shift key and drag it down to expand the text until the letters go to the correct position.

Now all you have to do is create a fading gradient in order to make the shadow look more realistic.
