Closed (sort of)
TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.
There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.
Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)

Create a new image.
» Settings: 400 × 475 pixels, 72 dpi, background color = transparent, image type = 16.7 million colors.
Flood Fill the canvas with light beige.
» My color: #F0E7DA.
With the Freehand Selection tool, draw a rectangle almost the size of the canvas, with very few straight lines, a few pixels away from the borders.
» Settings: selection type = freehand, feather = 0, antialias = checked.
Right-click to end the selection.
When you finish creating your selection, go to Selections – Invert and hit delete.
Invert the selection again and apply Paint Engine using the zap preset.
If you can’t find the preset please refer to my Paint Engine help file.
Invert the selection one more time and apply a Drop Shadow effect.
» Settings: vertical + horizontal = 0, opacity = 93, blur = 50, color = dark brown.
» My color: #4A3216.
Apply it again but change the blur to 15.
Invert the selection and save it to an alpha channel.
Deselect.
Add a new raster layer.
With the Airbrush tool, make a few spots using dark shades of brown, orange and yellow.
» Settings used are: shape = round, size = 100, hardness = 5, opacity = 50, step = 75, density = 15.
Apply a Gaussian Blur effect with the radius set between 2 and 4.
Load the selection from the alpha channel.
Invert it and hit delete.
Deselect.
On a new raster layer, add your text and/or image.
For the text, use a dark shade of brown or even black.
The image can be any color you wish (looks better if you use a Tube or Feather its edges a bit).
To place an image, open the image file, copy it and on the ancient paper canvas go to Edit – Paste – As New Layer.
After you’ve placed the elements you want on the paper, change the layer’s blend mode to Burn and lower the opacity a bit.
