TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.

Christmas Gift Background

Create a new image.
» Settings: 200 × 200 pixels, 72 dpi, background color = transparent, image type = 16.7 million colors.
Flood Fill it with red.
Apply the Sinedots II plug-in.
» Settings: set the inner density to 0.4, randomize = 1, gamma = 1, blend = screen, color = light yellow, antialias = checked, clip color = unchecked.
Hit the randomize button to create a nice shape, one that will get most of the screen (a very small shape won’t work).
Click OK to apply the effect.
Apply ben-wah Airlines from Kang’s #1.
Apply Blintz from Simple Filters.
Apply Gears from DSBFlux.
» Settings: gears = 8, strength = 50.
Finally, apply 4 Way Average from Simple Filters and your background is ready.
