Closed (sort of)

TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.

There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.

Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)

Creating Gradients

Creating gradients is quite a simple process: you can either add your own colors or use an image as the color source.

I’ll be using the following image as the color source:

Open the image.
Click on the black arrow on the foreground box and choose Gradient.

Now click on the foreground box to open the Gradient Options box.
Click on the Edit button to open the Gradient Editor.

On the Editor, click on New and enter the name of your new gradient.

The next step is to set your gradient’s colors.
To do this, simply select one of the sliders located under Gradient. Once selected, you can either click on the color box, Custom, or point your mouse over the image, David, so that it acts like the Dropper tool.
You can also add more sliders if you wish: point your mouse under the color bar and left-click; a new slider will show up and then you can set it’s location by either dragging it to the left or to the right or by entering the position on the Location box.

The small diamonds on top of the bar specify how the colors will blend.
By default, all colors have a very smooth blending, but you can modify it by dragging the diamonds to the sides.

At this point you can already save your gradient by clicking on the OK button or add some transparency to it.
If you choose to add transparency, simply modify the Opacity % for the sliders located under Transparency. White means opaque (100%) and black means transparent (0%). You can also add more sliders if you wish. You can preview how the transparency will be displayed under Result.

After clicking OK, you will be taken back to the Gradients Options box and your gradient will have been saved (by default, the gradients are saved in the Gradients folder in the PSP directory, but you can change this by going to File – Preferences – File Locations).
