Closed (sort of)
TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.
There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.
Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)

Custom Brushes
Creating brushes for PSP is quite easy. The hardest part on creating brushes is really deciding what to create from and for.
In order to be able to create a brush you must:
» Create a brush that is no bigger than 255×255 pixels.
» You must select the area that will be converted into a brush (even if it is the entire 255×255 canvas you’ll have to go to Selections – All).
» Areas that you want to make transparent must be white or use layer transparency. All brushes are created in greyscale: white = transparent and black = opaque.
» If you want to create a new brush file, first rename Ubrush.jbr. The new file PSP creates for brushes is always Ubrush.jbr. If you don’t rename the file new brushes will just be added to it.
» The default save folder is Brushes, which is located under the PSP directory. If you want to save the brushes to another folder go to File – Preferences – File Locations – Brushes; make sure you check the save to path option for the new folder.
With that being said, let’s make a brush.
Open the image that you want to convert into a brush (or make something from scratch). Press Shift + D to duplicate it and close the original.
Note: You don’t have to convert the image to greyscale in order to save it as a brush – PSP does that automatically.
Select the desired brush and look at the selection size on the coordinates located on the bottom left corner of the PSP workspace.
Note: The selection coordinates are only available while creating it, once you release it the size information is lost.
If the selection is bigger than 255×255 pixels, press Shift + R to first crop the brush from the rest of the canvas and then resize it.
Make any adjustments that you wish (add transparency, remove parts, etc.).
When finished, select the brush once again.
Make the Paint Brush tool active (or any other tool that supports custom brushes) and open the Tool Options palette.
On the top right corner of the palette click on the Brush Types icon and select Custom.
On the Custom Brush box click on the Create button.
Your brush is now saved and you can close the file that you were working on.
