Closed (sort of)

TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.

There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.

Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)

Dripping Chocolate

Preview image for the Dripping Chocolate tutorial.

Create a new image.
» Settings: any size you wish, 72 dpi, background color = transparent, image type = 16.7 million colors.

Enter your text with any color, font, effect, etc. Just make sure antialias is checked.

Add a new vector layer.

Set the foreground to null and background color to medium brown.
» My color: #7F5737.

With the Draw tool, create the chocolate drippings.
» Settings: type = point to point line, width = 1, line style = #1 solid, antialias + create as vector + close path = checked.

Basically, all drips have the following form at the bottom, being the rest completely up to you and based on the letter you are applying it to.

When making the shape, you won’t be starting with the drop itself, instead the first node should be placed on the letter as well as the last one, being the drop created in the middle or close to it.

These are the drops I’ve created for a few letters. Practically all of the nodes are symmetric.

When you finish creating the shapes, convert the layer to raster.

Apply the Sculpture texture effect.
» Settings: pattern #3 (|3631274), smoothness = 31, depth = 15, ambience = -25, shininess = 46, color = white, angle = 315, intensity = 24, elevation = 49.
Apply the effect again (hit Ctrl + Y to quickly repeat the command) using the same settings.

To give some extra shine, you can use the Retouch tool using the Dodge mode.
» Settings: shape = round, size = 20, hardness = 0, opacity = 5, step = 1, density = 85.
