TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.

Lace Background
Required download » Simple Filters
Create a new image.
» Settings: 150×150 pixels, 72 dpi, background color = transparent, image type = 16.7 million colors.
Flood Fill it with a very light color.
Choose two matching colors, one for the foreground and the other one for the background.
With the Airbrush tool, use both colors all over the canvas but without making it completely opaque (you should still be able to see the very light color you used in some areas).
» Settings: shape = round, size = 100, hardness = 25, opacity = 100, step = 15, density = 30.
Note: to use the background color with the Airbrush simply press the mouse’s right button instead of the left one.
Apply the Automatic Small Scratch Removal effect.
» Settings: lower = 0, upper = 50, strength = aggressive, remove dark + remove light scratches = checked.
Now apply Pizza Slice Mirror from Simple Filters and your background is ready.
