Closed (sort of)

TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.

There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.

Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)

Cross Processing

Creating a digital cross processing effect is actually quite easy :)

Basically all you have to do is change the curves in all channels: red, green and blue; as well as the curve on the overall RGB channel.

Below are two examples that I think work well on most photos.

cross process 1

First of all, open your image, hit Ctrl + D to duplicate it and close the original.

Go to Layers » New Adjustment Layer » Curves.
Settings »

You should always start with the individual color channels, which will make it easier for setting the curve for the RGB channel.

Click on the Auto Proof button so that you can see the changes on the actual image. This is very helpful for making other adjustments.

Click OK and you’re done :)

If you need to make further adjustments, all you have to do is double-click on the Curves layer to open the Layer Properties which, in this case, are actually the curves options.

Below is another example, which has a stronger blue cast:
