TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.
There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.
Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)
Paint Shop Pro X
Customizing the Menus

One thing that I like about Paint Shop Pro X is the ability to customize every single bit of the interface =)
You can customize the menus, the toolbars… everything!
And how do you customize the menus? Well, like this:
With no files opened, go to View » Customize » Commands.
As an example, I’ll be using the File menu.

In order to remove items, simply open the desired menu, click on the item that you don’t want anymore and drag it outside of the menu area (the cursor will change indicating that the item will be deleted).

You can either remove the entire item or sub-items (just click on the menu item to expand it).
In the end, this is what my File menu looks like:

As you can see, I removed quite a lot of things, either because I don’t use them, or because I use shortcuts, or because I might have placed them on a toolbar.

Now to add items, simply find the item that you want on the Customize box, click on it and drag it to the desired menu.
You can drag items from any menu you want to any other menu available. For example, instead of having the Customize item on the View menu you can put it under the Edit menu, which to me makes much more sense.
You can either open a menu before dragging the item to it or you can drag the item over the menu title in order to expand it.
Here’s what the cursor looks like when you are going to add a new item (notice the black line indicating the new item’s position):

You can place the item in a sub-menu as well. Just move the cursor over an existing item in order to open the sub-menu.

If you don’t like the existing menus, you can also create your own.
Under Categories, find New Menu.

Then click and drag the New Menu command and place it on the menu bar.
Right-click on it and choose Menu Text… in order to rename it.

Now all you have to do is add the items you want.
If you want to remove it, click on the name and drag it outside the menu toolbar or right-click and choose Delete.
You can right-click over the default menus as well.

When you finish, don’t forget to save your workspace (if you didn’t change the location it should be under File » Workspace » Save).
