TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.
There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.

Paint Shop Pro X
How to batch import gradients in .grd format

Although Paint Shop Pro can import gradients in .grd format (which is a “generic” format supported by several programs), it has the annoying feature of only being able to import one at a time. That’s it, just one. Another annoying feature is that it can’t batch rename .grd files, which I find extremely odd – unless I’m really missing something here.
Fortunately, you don’t need to rely exclusively on Paint Shop Pro (and neither do I in case I’ve missed something in the batch rename thing :D) and there is a way that allows anyone to import any amount of .grd files into the program – and you don’t even have to open it during the process!
First of all, you need to get a program that has a batch renaming feature. A good one is XnView, but you can look for other ones or you might even already have something installed.
Now open your program’s batch feature and make sure that you set it to change only the file’s extension.
Select all the gradients you want and set the program to change the grd extension to PspGradient.
And that’s all there is to it!
The next time you open Paint Shop Pro you’ll be able to use the gradients :)
