Paint Shop Pro X
Keeping the Same Colors for All Tools

Kind of a tip, kind of a rant…
The first version that I used of Paint Shop Pro was 7. Back then, there was an option called Lock under Styles.
Now that I’m using Paint Shop Pro X, Lock has turned into All tools located in the Materials palette. Although the name has changed, the function and the confusion is the same.
The problem with this feature is that most users, and pretty much all newbies, don’t want the color shifting between the tools. In fact, I have yet to meet someone that doesn’t keep that thing checked.
Another problem is that Paint Shop Pro X offers a palette called Swatches, where you can keep much more than just two colors available for your tools.
So I’m sitting here just wondering “why haven’t the programmers removed that useless feature yet?”, or “why doesn’t it at least come checked by default?”.
Anyway, to keep the same colors for all tools (a.k.a. avoid color shifting), check the All tools box in the Materials palette.
