Closed (sort of)

TEOM as you know it has been closed. I will keep it up for reference but it no longer will receive tutorial updates.

There are plans for a completely new site. If you'd like to be notified once the other site is up, simply subscribe to my mailing list.

Thanks for the support throughout all these years :)

Resizable Selection

Updated on January 01, 2006 – from PSP 9 to PSP X.

In order to create a fully resizable selection nothing better than vectors, which are fully resizable by nature.

This is how this works:

Set the fill and stroke colors as needed (i.e. if you want to create a border selection use just the stroke color and set the fill to null).

Use the pen tool or any other vector tool that suits your needs to create the shape that will be used as a selection.

Note: make sure that the Create On Vector option is checked when you create the shape.

Go to File » Export » Shape. Enter a name for the shape.

In order to use the newly created shape on any image, simply select the Preset Shapes tool and locate your shape.

Once you’ve placed the shape on the image (which should create a vector layer) and performed the changes (i.e. resized), go to Selections » From Vector Object.
This will create a selection that you can use over your image without loss of information or distortion of the shape regardless of the size you choose.
